Phonics

Phonics is taught and planned through the National system ‘Letters and Sounds.’  Children are taught to successfully break up words which supports them in both reading and spelling unfamiliar words. Teachers also use many of the interactive features on ‘Bug Club’ and  ‘Phonics Play’ to support the children’s learning and enjoyment. These skills are then embedded through small group guided Reading, English lessons and across the whole curriculum.

Intervention programs include –  KS1: ‘Rapid Phonics’ and KS2: ‘Read, Write Inc.’ which is for children who benefit from extra support and practise.
