St Wilfrid’s School Choir 2012/2013
St Wilfrid’s School Choir is open to all children in years 4, 5 and 6. Everyone can sing and should have the chance to do so. Therefore there are no auditions to join and the emphasis is on singing for fun! Nevertheless, the choir work really hard to learn and practise new songs; some just for fun and some to perform in front of others. Over the last few years we have sung for:
- St Wilfrid’s Summer and Christmas Fayres
- York Minster Carol Service for the Foundation for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
- Minster FM
- Amelia House Residential Home
- Amarna House Care Home
- Lime Tree House Care Home
We sing a wide variety of songs from a range of backgrounds: traditional Gospel music; songs from West End musicals, folk, pop, even some classical music! Favourites amongst the choir members have included: The Andrew sisters- Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy; The Beatles -When I’m 64; Rhythm of Life- from Sweet Charity; Coldplay- Viva La Vida; He Lives in You- from The Lion King.
This year choir practice will be running after school on Thursdays from 3.15pm – 4.30p.m.
